Eternal Security

God Saved Us and He Will Keep Us Saved Forever

John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.

Jesus Christ gives eternal life to all who belong to Him, and we have His word that we shall never perish. Furthermore, Jesus tell us that we are secure in His hand and in the hand of His Father. Since God is all powerful and no one can oppose God’s power or authority, not even we ourselves, we know that we are secure in His hand. Also, because we are precious to God , He is holding us with a firm grip; God’s hand is not open.

Rom 8:29-30 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

We are saved because God knew us and predestined us to be His children before we were born. God also called us to Himself and justified us. Furthermore, to make our salvation complete God has already glorified us in Christ Jesus. We are secure because our salvation is a result of God’s work from the beginning to the end; it is not the result of our doing, but it is the result of His doing.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Our salvation came to us as a gift from God, by grace, through faith, without any kind of works on our part. God not only saved us without our help, He also keeps us, so that no one will be able to boast, when he finally gets to heaven.

Col 3:3-4 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

As far as God is concerned, when Christ died we who believe in Christ died to sin with Him and our life is now hidden with Christ in God; we have life as long as He has life.

Heb 1:10-12 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Jesus Christ will live forever and because our eternal life is in Him, we will live forever. We are secure because we are being keep by His power and His faithfulness, not our own.

2 Cor 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Paul says that when our body of flesh dies, we will be given a new eternal body in heaven. This is all according to God’s plan and God’s purpose, and not our own.

I Jn 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

We can know we have eternal life, if we will only believe the word of God concerning Jesus Christ. We don’t hope so, we don’t think so, but we know so. God’s sure word is our guarantee that we have eternal life.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

There is no condemnation for all who are in Christ Jesus, as a result of faith in Him. Sin brings condemnation, but where sin has been forgiven there is no condemnation.

Eph 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Before God created the world He chose us and predestined us to be adopted as sons, in order that He might bless us freely according to His grace. God did all this, in order that He might be praised for the glory of His grace. Our salvation results in praise to God and our eternal security results in eternal praise to God.

Eph 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

God saved us because He is merciful, not because we deserve to be saved. While we were sinners He saved us and placed us in Christ Jesus. God did all this in order that He might demonstrate His grace toward us for all the ages to come.

Eph 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

When we first believed in Jesus Christ we were placed into Christ, and we were also sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of God. Notice the Holy Spirit of God is the Seal that seals us in Christ, and no one can break that seal, because no one is stronger than God. God’s purpose in all this is that we might be to the praise of His glory; and, He will be glorified. He will not fail to be glorified by failing to keep us saved.

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
God sealed us with the purpose of keeping us secure forever. God’s goal is to keep us, and He cannot fail because He is almighty. Anyone who believes he can break the seal of the Holy Spirit must also believe he is more powerful than God. Furthermore, if a person does not believe God is almighty, that person does not believe in the true God, and that person is not saved.

Phil 3:20-21 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is God almighty, and He is coming to take us to our true home in heaven. He cannot fail to accomplish all that He has planned from the beginning. He will transform us into His image, by His power.

John 3:14-16 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God gave His Son to be crucified in order to give eternal life to anyone who would only believe in Him. Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God gave His Son to die for us while we were sinners, not while we were worthy. Eternal life is of grace; it is not earned. We will not lose it, for not deserving it, because we did not deserve it to start with.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

God is angry at all sinners; and Jesus Christ has taken the anger of God upon Himself, on behalf of all those who will believe in Him; but, those who do not believe in Jesus Christ are still subject to the anger of God. The person who believes in Jesus Christ has eternal life, not the person who is good or religious. Security is in believing, not in being worthy.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

The only ones that come to Jesus Christ are the ones the Father gives to Him as a reward for going to the cross; and Jesus Christ will not lose His reward. Furthermore, Jesus Christ will not reject His father’s gift to Him; He will save all that the Father gives to Him. If you come to Jesus Christ, He will not reject you, and He will not lose you.

John 6:39-40 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

It is God’s will that all those who believe in Jesus Christ should have eternal life, be saved forever. God’s will, will be done; God cannot fail and Jesus Christ has given His word; He will raise up all believers on the last day.

Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

When God saved us, He started to work in us to change us into the image of Christ. God will continue to do that work in us until we see Jesus face to face; we can count on it because He is faithful.

Eccl 3:14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

When God saved us, our salvation was complete. No one can add anything to it, and no one can take anything from it because God’s work is forever perfect.

Ps 37:23-24 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

The Lord saved us and the Lord is the one who keeps us saved; we do not keep ourselves. When we fall, He lifts us up and holds us up; we can rely upon Him because He loves us, and He is faithful.

Ps 37:28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

God will keeps us forever; He will not fail any of His saints. We become saints, we receive the righteousness of Christ when we believe in Jesus Christ. Those who do not believe in Jesus Christ will be judged because they are not perfect, they do not have the righteousness of Christ.

Jude 1:24-25 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Our God is able to keep us from falling and to make us stand firm. Since God has given us the righteousness of Christ and has made us to be blameless before Him, He is also able to keep us blameless. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gave Himself for us, for our salvation, has the glory, majesty, dominion, and authority to complete that salvation.

Rom 8:33-34 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Our sins against God, our disobedience to God, had condemned us before God. The penalty which God demanded for our sins against Him was death, but He paid that penalty for us by giving Himself to die, in our place, for our sins. Therefore, no one can bring a charge against us, since the one who justified us, by dying for us, is now living to intercede for us.

Rom 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God loves us and He has proven that love for us by giving His Son, Jesus Christ to die for us. God saved us by His power, and since there is no power equal to God’s power, there is no power able to separate us from the love of God. He loves us because He chose to love us according to His own purpose; therefore, He will continue to love us because that is His purpose. Furthermore, we are united with Christ Jesus; the righteousness of Christ is ours. God does not see us as sinners, but He sees us as sons whom He loves.

Heb 7:24-25 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Jesus Christ is our high priest and since He lives forever, to make intercession for us, He is able to save us forever.

Heb 9:11-12 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Jesus Christ, our high priest, saved us, by offering His own blood as a sacrifice, to make atonement for our sins. He obtained our eternal redemption, by offering Himself one time, for all sins, for all time. Our salvation is complete; there is no other sacrifice needed to save us.

1 Pet 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Because of God’s great mercy toward us He has caused us to be born again; and we can be sure, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead, after He died for us. We were saved, by God’s power; and we are protected, by His power. He saved us and He will keep us saved forever, for that is His plan and His purpose.

I Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

All believers in Jesus Christ are children of God and will be children of God forever. Furthermore, when we see Jesus we will be like Him; we will be perfect, without sin.

1 Cor 1:7-9 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our eternal salvation does not depend upon us in any way. Jesus Christ saved us and He will keep us saved forever; furthermore, we can be sure that we are secure forever because He is faithful.

Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.
