Why is the coming world ruler referred to as the anti-christ,
and what is the covenant he makes with Israel?

John 1:11
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
(KJV)

Here we see that Jesus came to His own, the Jews, but they rejected Him. They did not
believe in Him because they were not looking for a Messiah to deliver them from their
sins, but they wanted a Messiah who would set them free from domination by the
Roman Empire.

Matt 24:4-5
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
(KJV)

Many anti-christ will come to the Jews claiming to be their Messiah, and mislead many;
therefore, we can say the anti-christ is a liar and a deceiver, and many people will
accept him as their Messiah.

John 5:43
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
(KJV)

The Jews rejected Jesus Christ; they did not want Him to be their Messiah, but they will
receive the anti-christ as their Messiah.

ANTICHRIST

antichristos ^500^ can mean either "against Christ" or "instead of Christ," or perhaps,
combining the two, "one who, assuming the guise of Christ, opposes Christ" (Westcott).
(from Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words)
(Copyright (C) 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers)

The anti-christ will confirm the covenant.
Dan 9:27
"And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations {will come } one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate." (NAS)

the covenant: Strong’s 1285 beriyth (ber-eeth');
from 1262 (in the sense of cutting [like 1254]); a
compact (because made by passing between pieces
of flesh
): -confederacy, [con-] feder [-ate], covenant,
league.
(See also: Genesis 15:7-18)

Dan 9:27
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
(KJV)

I am not a King James only believer; I much prefer the New American Standard
Version; but, in this case, I believe the KJV has it right, “he shall confirm the covenant”.

The big question is, what covenant?

Gen 15:18
In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
(KJV)

God gave Abraham and his descendants all the land from the river of Egypt, the Nile in
Egypt, to the Euphrates river in Iraq. This was an unconditional covenant. It does not
depend upon any condition on Abraham or any of his descendants; therefore, Israel
cannot do anything to nullify the covenant; the covenant will never be nullified because
God keeps His Word, He is forever faithful. You can call it a grace covenant.

Gen 35:10-12
And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called anymore Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
(KJV)

God not only gave the promised land to Abraham, but He gave it to Abraham’s son
Isaac, and to Isaac’s son Jacob; furthermore, God changed Jacob’s name to Israel.
Therefore, we know upon the authority of the word of God that all the land from the river
of Egypt to the Euphrates river belongs to Israel. God said it; therefore, we know with
certainty, it will be accomplished.

We must remember that the anti-christ is inspired by satan, and he is a counterfeit
Messiah; therefore, he presents himself to Israel as their savior. (Not to save them from
their sins, but to save them from anyone who would question their right to all their land.)
The anti-christ will present himself as Israel’s Messiah by affirming the covenant that
God made with Abraham; therefore, they will accept him as their Messiah because this
is what the Jews have been looking for in their Messiah all along.

The goal of all the wars in Israel (the 1948 war, the 1967 war, the 1973 war, the future
Psalm 83 war, the future Ezekiel 38 and 39 war, and even Armageddon) was and will
continue to be to remove Israel from the land that God gave them.

I believe that after the Psalm 83 war Israel will be much larger than today; they may
even occupy all the land God promised to Abraham and his descendants. This may be
the justification for the Ezekiel 38 and 39 war; Russia and her allies may make the
claim that Israel has no right to annex all that territory, and that they were going to bring
Israel to justice. Even though this is not their true motive, this may be their claim.

After the Ezekiel 38 and 39 war, the anti-christ, will be trying to establish his control over
the entire world and he will seek the support of the world’s wealthy Jews: therefore, he
will befriend Israel in order to gain that support.

Dan 9:27
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: ........
(KJV)

Today, Israel is in a struggle for survival. Their enemies are trying to take their land
away from them, and they can’t even build a house on their land without being
condemned by the world.

In summation, I believe the covenant spoken of in Daniel 9:27 is the land covenant God
made with Abraham. The anti-christ will come upon the world scene by confirming his
support for Israel’s sovereign right to the entire land God gave Israel. Furthermore, he
will even declare that he supports Israel’s right to build their temple on the Temple
Mount. Consequently, Israel will receive the ruler of the revived Roman Empire as their
Messiah. Israel will finally have the Messiah of their own choosing.

John 5:43
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
(KJV)

Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.
